Amy was a really talented girl, and it so sad that she is dead now. I was a big fan of her songs, my favourites being 'back to black' and 'rehab'. But despite her natural talent she consistently went on mad binge drinking rampages and repetedly went back to drugs. Its such a shame too, that she died only aged 27. She was so young! But the way she treated herself made her body look, feel and work less like a young womans and more like an old ladies. Unfortunatley, even early on, I could tell she wasn't going to live very long. Its just sad to see such a young, talented woman just go to waste because of her drink a drug problems. She had recently been in rehabilitation in London for her drinking problems before the infamous 'Belgrade performance' where she appeared totally drunk on stage mumbling through songs and occasionally leaving the stage for her band to fill in. She did bring it on herself sadly. The rehab centre told her not to drink at all, but still she went back to her old ways.
I pity her family really. All the questions they will have to ask and answer. Why such a young woman would die. Dionne Bromfield, her god daughter too. Amy was Dionnes mentor and first got her started in the music industry. I recently read an article in which Dionne was interviewed about what it was like haing Amy Winehouse for a god mother and a manager. And she spoke about her so well, they seemed like sisters, the way they had giggles with each other and how they laughed about the lies the media had made up. It doesn't seem right that a woman with such talent and a loving family and friendship group would take her own life. In my opinion I think it was an accidental overdose on drugs. Whatever the circumstance. She will be sorely missed.
